What Comes Next? Embracing Your Progress and Moving Forward
March 11, 2025

For the past five or six weeks, we’ve been talking about my foot surgery—how to prepare for it, how to recover from it, and all the little steps in between. But today, I want to talk about what happens after recovery because something amazing happened this morning.
I was walking around my house when I suddenly realized…I wasn’t thinking about walking. For the first time in five weeks, I wasn’t carefully focusing on every step, adjusting my balance, or consciously reminding myself to walk properly. It had become second nature.
And what a pleasant surprise that was!
You might be in a similar situation—whether you’re recovering from an injury, working toward a new level of strength, focusing on your health goals, or even helping clients make their own progress. There’s always that moment when something that once required so much effort just clicks into place. What once felt like a struggle becomes second nature.
So… What Comes Next?
Now, you could sit back and say, “Great, I did it! I’m done.” But you probably already know that’s not my recommendation.
Instead, I suggest you do two things:
-
Pause and Celebrate. We don’t do this enough! It’s easy to get caught up in the mindset of constantly moving to the next goal, but if we never take time to acknowledge our progress, we end up feeling like we’re on an endless hamster wheel. So take a moment. Celebrate yourself. Acknowledge the effort you put in and how far you’ve come. You deserve it!
-
Decide What’s Next. Growth is an ongoing journey. Once you’ve achieved something, it’s time to ask yourself: What’s the next step? Maybe it’s building on your progress, setting a new health goal, or developing another positive habit.
If you’re an individual, work with the professionals in your life—your trainer, coach, or therapist—to create a plan for your next steps. If you’re a health professional working with clients, help them break their next goal into small, manageable steps so they can continue their progress.
And if you need support figuring out what comes next for you, I’m here to help. Let’s hop on a call and map out your next step together.
Keep Growing, Keep Evolving
Life isn’t about reaching one goal and stopping—it’s about continuous growth and evolution. Whether you’re working on your physical health, business, or personal development, the journey never truly ends. And that’s a beautiful thing!
So today, take a moment to celebrate your progress. And then, when you’re ready, ask yourself: What’s next?
