From Coasting to Chaos: How to Reclaim Your Summer with Intention

You know that feeling when you think you're just cruising along, doing fine… and then one day you look around and realize you’re not cruising — you’re stuck?

Maybe what started as a little summer break from your routines has snowballed into a full-blown rut. The workouts stopped. The healthy meals gave way to quick snacks and nightly drinks. Your business to-dos quietly slipped off the calendar. And suddenly, the balance you worked so hard to build feels like it’s disappeared.

That’s what I call the slide from “coasting” into the chasm.

But here’s the thing, it doesn’t have to stay that way. You can shift gears, re-align, and reclaim your summer with intention. You don’t have to wait for Labor Day to start over. Let’s talk about how.

First, get honest.

What’s actually happening? Where have your habits fallen off track — in your health, your business, your routines? Take an honest inventory without guilt. Awareness is always the first step to change.

Then, ask: how did I get here?

For me, it was a week filled with tactical tasks. I pushed the things I’d planned to do for my own business (and myself) to the side.

And guess what? I felt the ripple effects…physically, mentally, and in my business.

Once you know what slipped, you get to choose what comes next.

Do you want to catch up?
Or do you want to reset and simply get back on track?

Neither answer is wrong, but you do need to choose. Because letting things continue as-is means you'll end up even deeper in the rut come fall.

Here’s what I recommend:

  1. Reschedule the things that matter.
If it fell off your calendar last week, put it back on this week. Whether that’s movement, connection calls, or content planning, schedule it like you would a client meeting.

  2. Balance with joy.
No, you don’t have to give up fun to catch up. I’ve got a hand-pulled-noodle-making class, live music, pickleball, and lunch with a friend on my calendar this week. Just plan around your priorities and sprinkle the joy in intentionally.

  3. Ask for accountability.
My team helps keep me on track (especially when I forget something. Shout out to them!). Don’t try to do it all alone. Accountability helps bring the vision to life.

  4. Reflect without shame.
Life happens. Plans shift. However, if we’re aware of what’s working and what’s not, we can become the CEO of our health and our business, steering it in the direction we actually want to go.

Whether you’re climbing out of a rut or just getting back into rhythm, now is a great time to do it.

You don’t have to wait until September.
You don’t need a “perfect” week to start.

You just need the next best step and the willingness to take it.

And if you’re not sure where to begin, I’ve opened up a few single strategy sessions this summer. No pressure, just support. I’d love to help you map your way back to momentum.

Because, as always, what I hope for you is that you live a life you love, without giving up the things that bring you joy.
