How to Make Room for a Season of Fun (Without Losing Sight of Your Goals)
May 27, 2025

We’ve spent the last few weeks talking about the seasons of life and business from recovery to work to rebuilding and now, it’s time to shift into something just as important: a season of fun.
Yes, fun.
It's easy to associate wellness with discipline, structure, and goal-setting and while all those things matter, what often gets overlooked is the importance of joy. If your wellness journey feels like a grind every day, you’re doing it wrong.
Right now, I’m gearing up for an epic trip to Orlando with my son. Universal. Disney. Hogwarts Express. Sushi nights. EPCOT dinners. A whole lineup of amazing memories-in-the-making. It’s going to be active (hello miles of walking in the Florida sun), indulgent (bring on all the different cuisines), and a whole lot of fun.
But here’s the thing - it’s not all or nothing.
I didn’t have to trade my health goals for this trip. I’ve been preparing for it. This “season of fun” was something I planned for. I worked toward it with consistency and excitement because fun is part of a healthy lifestyle, too.
The mindset shift I want to encourage today is this: fun doesn’t derail your goals. It supports them, especially when it’s done with intention.
Because fun:
• Boosts your mood and reduces stress (hello, cortisol regulation)
• Reignites creativity and motivation
• Brings balance back into your wellness journey
• Reminds you why all this hard work is worth it
So whether your version of fun includes hiking with friends, reading in the sunshine, eating your favorite foods while traveling, or simply taking a long weekend to unplug, do it. Plan it. Make space for it. Then enjoy it fully and without guilt.
And if you’re a health pro? The same applies to your business. Breaks fuel your ability to serve others. Rest and play recharge your creativity, productivity, and empathy. Don’t skip your own season of fun, model it for your clients.
So here’s my question for you: what does a season of fun look like in your life?
Not just once a year, but built in regularly. What’s something joyful, different, or just plain delightful that you’re planning for yourself?
Let’s drop the all-or-nothing mindset. Let’s embrace the balance.
Because wellness isn’t just what you eat or how you train. It’s how you live. And that includes fun.
As always, what I hope for you is that you live a life you love without giving up the things that bring you joy.
